What happened to freedom of religion?

My family fled pogroms in Russia and Poland and came to America where they were still persecuted as Jews and eventually as Russians by Senator Joseph McCarthy who suspected every free thinking individual to be a Communist. I believe in defending our country but not via witch hunts! Peter King is a putz!
