POLITICS & BOOKS

Rob Taub brings an intelligent and witty voice to your television show or conference. By way of his wonderful sense of humor, Rob has the unique ability to take subject matter that is too often dry and make it fun and interesting.

A regular contributor to Fox News (political pundit) and People Magazine (book reviewer), Rob has also become a popular speaker on the subjects of health, fitness & Type 2 diabetes.  Politically, Rob combines a liberal Democratic social voice with a more conservative approach to taxation & spending.   An opponent of frivolous government expenditures, Rob’s “Waste Watchers” pieces are equally funny and infuriating.   Charming and diplomatic, his banter is always sharp but never mean-spirited.

HEALTH, FITNESS & MOTIVATION (Fabulously fit at 54 years old)

Twenty seven percent of the U.S. population are Type 2 Diabetics and are completely unaware while one-third of the population is obese!  I speak frequently and very effectively about weight loss and diabetes because I am not a nutritionist or a certified personal trainer.  I am like millions of other people with jobs, families and commitments that make it difficult to adhere to strict diets and exercise regimens.  When I was confronted with the dangers of obesity and Type 2 diabetes I created my own sensible but effective plan that resulted in a weight loss of nearly 100 lbs which has remained so for more than one year!

In the spring of 2009 I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes.  At the time, I was 53 years old, weighed in excess of 250 lbs and felt miserable.  My symptoms included: constant hunger, total exhaustion and despite frequent exercise — and what I thought were diets — the inability to lose weight.

After the diagnosis, my doctor prescribed metformin, which helps control blood glucose levels.  I made it my mission to read countless books on nutrition, exercise and diabetes and realized that diets are temporary measures that ultimately don’t work.  What I did instead was to alter my lifestyle but not so drastically that I could no longer eat the things I enjoy.  Maintaining this lifestyle is not difficult.  In fact, living (as many people do) with diabetes and/or obesity unchecked is far more of a strain!  As a result of my program, I now have more energy, require much less sleep and have the physique of a much younger person.

I have lectured on both diet and fitness and I’m always happy to share my methods with others.  Please don’t hesitate to contact me via email with any questions regarding a speaking engagement.  rob(at)robtaub.com

Type 2 Diabetes: Much of the food we eat is turned into sugar in the blood for our bodies to use for energy. A hormone produced by the pancreas called insulin helps sugar in our blood get into the cells of our bodies. If your body doesn’t make enough insulin or if the insulin doesn’t work the way it should, blood sugar can’t get into your cells and instead stays in your blood, raising your blood sugar level.

It’s important to keep your blood sugar controlled, because when too much sugar stays in your blood for a long time, it can damage blood vessels and nerves.
